Privacy Policy. Local first.
MultiTrim trims audio on your computer. This page explains what stays there, what can leave the app, and what we deliberately avoid collecting.
- 01
Scope
This policy covers the MultiTrim desktop app, multitrim.app, checkout, licensing, and support.
The short version is simple: MultiTrim trims audio on your computer. We do not upload your tracks to a server to process them.
If you buy MultiTrim through Paddle, an app store, or another platform, that provider handles parts of the transaction under its own privacy terms.
- 02
Audio files
MultiTrim reads the files and folders you drag in or pick through the file picker. When you choose a folder, the app scans it for supported audio files and skips the rest.
The app writes trimmed copies to the output folder you choose, using your filename suffix. Normal processing is not meant to overwrite or edit your originals.
To do its job, MultiTrim reads headers, frames or packets, metadata blocks, tags, and timing data. That work happens locally.
We do not collect or send your audio content, filenames, folder paths, waveform data, metadata tags, or exact per-file durations.
- 03
Settings
MultiTrim keeps a local settings database on your computer. It can store things like thresholds, trim safety, theme, output folder, filename suffix, onboarding status, parallelism, telemetry preference, and license state.
Those settings let the app remember your choices. They are not uploaded during normal audio processing.
If you turn telemetry on, the app creates a random anonymous install ID. It is not built from your device ID, file data, account data, or license details.
- 04
Optional telemetry
Telemetry is off by default. You do not need an account or telemetry consent to use the free app.
If you turn telemetry on, MultiTrim can send small product events such as app started, files added, process started, process completed, track failed, checkout started, and license activated.
The fields are coarse on purpose: plan, file count, broad format bucket, whether a run was a batch, success and failure counts, and error category. We do not send file paths, filenames, metadata tags, waveform data, exact folders, or exact per-file durations.
Telemetry failures are ignored by the app. They do not block startup, audio processing, licensing, or anything else. Turn telemetry off in Settings and future capture stops.
- 05
Purchases
For direct purchases, Paddle is the merchant of record. Paddle runs checkout, takes payment, calculates tax, sends receipts, handles refunds, and deals with payment compliance.
During checkout and purchase support, Paddle can process your name, email, billing details, payment details, transaction IDs, tax location, invoice data, and fraud signals. Paddle handles that data under Paddle's own terms and privacy notice.
MultiTrim may receive enough purchase and license information to unlock Pro, help with a transaction, reconcile a payment, deal with fraud or abuse, and meet accounting or tax duties. We do not receive your full card number.
If you buy through an app store or another platform, that platform may handle purchase and refund data instead of Paddle.
- 06
Licensing
Pro is unlocked with a signed license response. The app checks the signature locally and grants Pro only when the license is for MultiTrim, the plan is Pro, and the license has not expired.
The license can include a license ID, product ID, plan, provider, activation time, optional expiration time, feature flags, and an issued-to hash. The app stores the signed activation locally so Pro can keep working without calling home every time.
Deactivating Pro inside the app removes the local unlock from that installation. It does not refund a purchase or cancel a separate billing arrangement.
- 07
Support
If you email support, we receive what you send: your email address, message, screenshots, logs, transaction reference, license ID, device details, operating system details, and any files you attach.
Please do not send audio files, private tags, passwords, card numbers, or other sensitive material unless we ask for it and you are comfortable sharing it.
We use support messages to reply, troubleshoot, improve the app, verify purchases or licenses, and keep a record of the conversation.
- 08
Website data
The website receives ordinary technical data from your browser and hosting infrastructure: IP address, user agent, requested URL, referrer, timestamps, and security logs.
We use that data to serve the site, diagnose errors, understand rough traffic, and prevent abuse. The website does not process your audio library.
If we add cookies beyond what the site or checkout needs to work, we will update this policy and provide any required choices.
- 09
Security
MultiTrim avoids holding data it does not need. Audio processing is local, telemetry starts off, telemetry fields are allow-listed, license activation is signed, and the desktop app does not ship with checkout secrets or private signing keys.
No system is perfectly secure. You are responsible for protecting your computer, operating system, backups, and audio library.
If you believe you found a security issue, contact support@multitrim.app with enough detail for us to reproduce and investigate it.
- 10
SOC 2 posture
SOC 2 is an independent audit report, not a label a company can grant itself. It looks at controls for Security and, when included, Availability, Processing Integrity, Confidentiality, and Privacy.
MultiTrim is not claiming SOC 2 certification and has not completed a SOC 2 Type I or Type II examination.
The app does follow several SOC 2-style habits: collect less, process audio locally, keep telemetry narrow, check entitlements in the backend, use signed licenses, and let a merchant of record handle payment data.
Because MultiTrim is a desktop app, the likely SOC 2 scope would be the website, checkout and license infrastructure, support process, and any telemetry pipeline that is enabled. The app itself does not run your audio through a hosted processing service.
- 11
Retention
Local settings and license data stay on your device until you change them, deactivate Pro, uninstall the app, or remove the app's local data.
We keep telemetry, support, checkout, and licensing records only as long as we need them for support, security, accounting, tax, disputes, compliance, or product work.
Paddle or another store controls its own payment, invoice, tax, refund, and fraud records.
- 12
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may be able to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information we hold about you.
Most app data lives on your device, so you can manage much of it yourself: change settings, turn telemetry off, deactivate Pro, remove queued files, delete local app data, or uninstall MultiTrim.
For a privacy request, email support@multitrim.app. We may need enough information to verify the request and find the right records.
- 13
Changes
We may update this policy when MultiTrim, checkout, telemetry, distribution, or legal requirements change. The latest version will stay on this page with the date above.
If the law requires notice or consent for a material change, we will handle it that way.
